Are there any good alternatives to leeks?

  • There are a few great looking dishes that I would love to make that require leeks to make. I live in the desert of Arizona. We don't have farmer's markets and I can't find them at any of the local stores. Does anybody know of a good alternative that I can use as a substitution for leeks?

I would use the mildest onion you can find. The white part of a green onion (aka scallion) or a white onion should do it.

I was going to suggest the same thing so you're on the right track!

I don't know if there is a Trader Joe's close to you but they sell frozen leeks and they are really good!
