How are the calories burned calculated for the workouts?

  • It looks like the calorie counts are extremely over the top. One of the 30 minute Inferno workouts supposedly burns about 550 calories for my 190 lb body. Generally, that would be about 5 miles of running for me. I'd love to know more about how they're calculated as I use a separate calorie counting tool and putting in 550 burned is definitely too many I think (I've just been halfing it).

The calorie count given during the videos is only meant to be an estimate. Many factors go into determining how many calories are burned during a workout, so it's impossible to give an 'exact' number without using a heart rate monitor. What we did was take the average based on our DailyBurn user, so for users our estimate might be too high and for others it might be too high. It is used to be a guide for users since a precise calorie amount can't be given.

So what is an average user size? That might help me figure out how many calories I'm burning, compared to an average. Thanks!
