How can I build up to a full push-up?

  • I've never been able to do even a proper push-up with my knees on the ground. How do I build up to even doing a modified push-up, much less a regular push-up? Is it better to only bend my arms half way or to control my drop to the floor and then allow my back to bend when I lift myself up again?
