How long should you wait between eating a meal and working out? Any advice on what to eat before a work out?

1 -2 hours works best for me. If I eat 2 hours before, then I eat a full meal. If I eat an hour before, a smaller snack is best so that the food has time to digest.

a quick snack before a workout..like a handful of almonds or somekind of nuts.....for some slow absorbtion in the belly...it gives you energy....slowly...but do not eat too much,,,you do not want the food to weigh you down..then within 45 min to an hour........down some protein and carbs to restore the lost glycegen levels in your liver and body...the stored part......thanks...

So you have protein and carbs after the workout, within 45 mins?

I usually wait two hours. You don't want to feel that food drag you down when you are doing your workout.

30 Minutes I have always heard gives your stomic a chance to digest.
As a kid we were not allowed to swim after dinner for at least one half hour, due to possible cramps, this is no longer followed. I think it gave our parents a chance to chill and not worry about us getting cramps.

      Thanks nithya22
I also agree I dont like a full stomic weighing me down.
Handfull of almonds just before a workout sounds great.

I usually time workouts to be before a main meal and try to avoid too much snacking anyway. To your point, I would wait 1-2 hours depending on if a snack filled you up and in that case, maybe you could consider smaller snacks.
