How much should I work out each day?
If I can walk at the end of a work out then I feel like I haven't done enough. Usually when I start a program I plan my workouts to be 1-2 hours a day, split between day and night. This often gets me discouraged and then I quit. A few weeks to a couple months later the cycle starts again. I feel like if I put extra time into it the I should see sooner results. However, I get frustrated because I often feel smaller but have not actually lost any weight. So, I need to know. Am I working out too much in the beginning even if I'm not reaching my physical limit? What is the best length of a workout to achieve results?slimminshirley by:
The best length of a workout will really vary by what you have time for and your goals, but you should never NEED to work out for 2 hours a day to reach your goals! As you've seen, that can lead to feeling burnt out. If you feel smaller but have not lost weight, you have probably gained muscle. It's also always best to mix up heavy days with lighter/steady-state days - if you work to your max every day, your muscles won't have time to recover.
