Is it safe to do 2 core workouts in a single day?
I have always heard that the core is just like any other muscle group and it needs time to heal, repair, recover and build just like any others. However, if you feel your first one was too easy, then I would go for it.
Remember though that if it is overall weight loss that you are going for then a good cardio workout would be a great supplement to the ab workout you did.
I guess the bottom line is that you should listen to your body and make sure that you are not straining.
Core training is important, but you need to make sure that you are able to recover between workouts. There is always the temptation to over do it when you are enthusiastic about working out, but you have to save a little for the next day. If you over train, you will put yourself out of commission for a while and you won't be able to work out at all.
That said, I believe that YankDownUnder's advice was exactly right--listen to your body...
I've done more than one core workout per day and I'm 61--that means I'm either fit, or crazy--actually I'm neither. But I have found that I can do 2-4 workouts per day, burn more calories, but I don't do two workouts that target the same area. I do the mobility yoga 3 times a week, and the 18 minute restorative yoga every evening.
