Pears in White Grape Juice Concentrate? Are they OK for Ignite?

  • Trader Joe's sells some really nice pears, in a jar with white grape juice concentrate. I was thinking about adding the pears to my smoothies to add some sweetness. Is this type of Pear okay?

I wouldnt. Use a fresh pear. The juice is added calories you dont need.

I agree with the above. Go with the fresh pear and if you still need additional sweetness use agave nectar or xylitol. Both are healthy and natural low glycemic sweeteners. Many people don't know xylitol: it is a natural sugar alcohol derived from tree bark and is very healthy and safe for diabetics. It looks and acts like sugar and it is NOT a fake sugar substitute created in a lab. You can find it at Whole Foods or online at a natural foods retailer
