I agree with the answer before mine. Whenever you can exercise, do it!
I do find after being the military that I prefer to exercise in the morning. Mainly because I can just get it over with and go about my day. If I plan to go in the afternoon, something might come up and if wait until the evening i might be too tired from whatever I did during the day.
You don't want to exercise in the morning without at least having an energy bar.
Of course you don't want to eat stack of pancakes and jump around five minutes later, But you should not have a completely empty stomach when you exercise.
It won't kill you if you do (I did it all the time in the Navy), but the professionals say that you get a better workout in the morning if you eat a little something.. Even a hundred calories will give you a boost. That's easily a serving of yogurt.

For me, a big mental block is working out at a time when I have energy but my stomach is not full from a meal, so I tend to do it before breakfast or before lunch or before dinner. Good luck to us all! I have at least 60 to lose from 260. -Michael
