What is the matter with eating eggs for breakfast everyday?

  • Some people say to limit eggs, some say to eat as many as you want. What's the deal?

Eggs got a bad rap in the sixties when the medical community decided they were full of cholesterol oh no oh no how horrible. Then, as often happens, more research showed eggs actually have good cholesterol!

Also, no study, not a single one, has linked a diet high in cholesterol to having high cholesterol. Doctors just make that assumption, and so do we. In other words, if eggs satisfy you, and keep you full till lunch, eat them! There will always be new studies coming out and contradicting what came before, so take them with a heaping spoonful of salt!

There's controversy about it having an affect on cholesterol. If you are genetically disposed to high cholesterol, having those saturated fats in the yoke on an everyday basis might not be a good idea. You can google it. There's arguments for both sides. However, even the articles that argue for health benefits say that you should maybe have eggs just 3 times a week.

What is comes down to, in my opinion, is that egg consumption should be part of a balanced diet. Egg consumption shouldn't be #1 in your diet concerns . Good protein and good fats are available in other sources as well...and variety is the spice of life. I wouldn't ever say to eat as many eggs as you want....even whole foods like avocado you have to limit. Avocados are a super food but if you go overboard. you're going to get too much fat in your diet. If you're eating egg whites, and lots of them, obviously, that's different than eating tons of whole eggs. But, like I said before, every protein source has something different to offer nutritionally. It's all about balance.
