I can save you $39.95. It says, “Abs are made in the kitchen. Eat less than you burn, and you’ll lose fat. Lose enough fat and you’ll have a six pack.” Now send a check to my address: 123 Donotfallforit Lane |

@conquest2, you can read my article “Abs Are Made In the Kitchen” for free – http://catapultfitness.blogspot.com/2009/03/abs… It’s misleading to say that there are actual recipes that will help you burn fat, but it’s fair to say that by avoiding certain foods, practicing nutrient timing and focusing primarily on whole foods (versus processed foods) that you will be on your way to achieving a six pack. Ultimately, it’s all about body fat . For a male to start seeing washboard abs you need to get your BF to 10 or lower. |

I hate the “fat burning foods” concept. It lies in the assumption that a carb source with a low glycemic index will keep insuling lower than eating processed carbs, and sugars. Great, how about I eat no carbs, and keep my insulin in the cellar? If insulin control was the end all be all of dieting then Atkins wouldn’t have fallen out of favor. The other angle that they seem to take is the idea of foods that “increase your metabolism.” Well, nothing can really increase your metabolism beyond a minute level that is so small as to be practically irrelevant. Even gaining ten pounds of muscle has a negligible impact on your BMR. Also, people who are 50+ pounds overweight have much higher metabolism’s than thier thinner counterparts…. The reality is that most of us know what we are doing wrong, and what we need to do to get leaner. The confusion arises from all of the “noise” that is out there about low carb, acai berry, 8 meals per day, metabolism improving foods, etc. If you could somehow strip away all of the myths that you see on the internet and TV, then you’d be left with a population that pretty much knows what a good diet looks like. Eat less than you burn, eat a balanced diet with out overdoing any one nutrient, and exercise and you’ll be healthy, and look healthy. |

@chaddukes Gotta agree. There’s just so much information out there: muscle confusion, fad diets, every ab gadget you can think of, etc. When really, the truth to losing weight and getting fit remains: eat less, move more. Media preys on people’s ignorance and/or laziness. They want someone to do the thinking and work for them. Sadly, most good information (such as the DailyBurn forums) is free or very inexpensive. |

@conquest, not knowing where you started and how much weight you have to lose, I cannot specifically say whether two inches in two months is good or not. However, I can state that I rather see steady progression than a rapid drop that is likely due to an unsustainable diet/workout schedule. As long as you continue to see positive results, all is good! |

Hi Phil, do you have any pics of the former and current? Just curious of the differences. I am new to this and wanting to do the same. Thanks in advance! |

Follow Me on Twitter @_Loves_It_ Just thought I would write that since I had no idea what this product is, it could be anything! |

You know what would be really helpful is if there was a “report spam” button. I’m specifically looking at comments from azlan12, jae1,_ and arnoldap. Especially since I can’t see any nofollow attributes on any links. Could a moderator please remove them? For the record, I have no problem with leaving nofollow off. Helpful contributors like susannyny shouldn’t be penalized because of the actions of spammers. |

You can report spam after you have about 10 posts. |

@conquest2 2 inches 2 months in not bad at all. Congrats. 1 thing we should remember is drastic weight loss is only good for overly obese individuals (like I was). That’s why the Biggest Loser winner is always the most obese. From your avatar photo, seems that it’s not good for you to lose too much inches. But anyway I don’t know your current condition & your goal. Regarding Truth About Abs, I bought the book myself. It’s about eating as naturally as possible, avoiding common foods in the market that contain dangerous fattening substances (I never knew about ‘em before), ’indirect’ ab exercises that’s better than typical ab exercises, full body workouts for getting lean (I think you’re familiar with this, but I may be wrong), changing workout plan/nutrition overtime to avoid plateau, etc. Does it really work? Like most fitness pros answer questions, ‘that depends’. It MAY or MAY NOT be for you. Damn this reply is getting to long. I write a full review here: http://truthaboutabsreviewrevealstruthaboutabss… Hope this helps :o) Ed |

Thank you I did get the book from a friend that bought it and it is very similar to the clean eating book. I am changing the way I eat day by day getting cleaner and cleaner by the day. I workout with weights at least 4 days a week for 45-60 minutes and increasing my cardio to 5 days a week for 40 minutes each time. My new goal is to compete in a triathlon with a friend of mine. I never thought in a million years I would ever compete in something like that. Our goal is to complete it in one day!! LOL |

Thanks susannyny for the helpful article. I workout 5 days a week (3 days weights + cardio, 2 days just cardio) and I’m really struggling to lose anything more than an inch off of my waist. i’ve been at this since March so I should’ve seen better results. i tried going low carb, but that made me feel terrible. I’m really looking for help with losing belly fat because it has been such a struggle. Any advice people can give is helpful. One more bit about me, I have a pretty high stress job. I’ve heard that can be a contributor to a large waist line. Thanks again for all of the helpful tips I’ve read on here. |

kabraham. spot fat reduction is a myth. Your body sheds fat differently than someone else. Honestly belly fat, which is my problem also is a product of the whole body. From what I understand, in order to remove those tough stubborn fat areas, you just have to keep at your diet and training and it will come off. I’m doing a 40/40/20 intake with about 2200 calories. I also do a 3 day split on my training with cardio twice a week. HITT cardio works for me. |

Dashiz, Thanks for the advice. I don’t believe in spot fat reduction, but I do know that I’m putting a lot into my fitness, and not seeing any results (especially in my waistline). I’m going to try the HIIT cardio workout, since you mentioned it and i looked at the data on it. I hope to see good results from that! |
