I Lost 20 Lbs! I Lost 50 LBS! I Ran 100 Miles!

I’m aiming for 10-15% fat intake and I’m concerned about how best to keep proper levels of A, D, E and K vitamins. If I just take supplements with a low fat meal, will enough be absorbed?

I figure I have enough fat on me already, and if my body is mobilizing some to burn then that’s some available for vitamin transport. But that’s more of a justification for the low fat diet, which has been pretty effective combined with exercising.

% of calories or % of grams?
.
In both cases too low. Will screw up your hormones. Bad idea.

% of total calories. I followed a mostly Pritikin food plan through college and ran 15 miles/week. Hormones seemed fine, or so my boyfriend thought. :)

I make a point to eat whatever the family is eating for dinner and figured a good vitamin supplement then would coincide with the bulk of my fat consumption for the day.

Each to his (hers) own. ;)

But there are many types of fats as you know, and it is not all bad. Personally I would go for balance, and quality. But that’s just my choice. You can read all sorts of literature on all kinds of special diets, that come and go out of vogue. Pritkin had its golden years in the 80s, but and then other types special diets took the spotlight.

All in all I suspect balance and quality is the key, none of these special ‘better’ diets. If one eats from quality sources and takes into account foods that do not go well with one self, and keeps some semblance of a balance I think that will be the axis other diets will revolve around during the decades to come.

There is some data that suggest protein is important for sugar balance and other similar issues, but that is still all in moderation of course.
