You're welcome. I know it's hard to find ignite compliant packaged foods. I am finding most of my time is now spent preparing whole foods and making snacks from the recipes here.
I hope the rest of the ignite phase works well for you.
I think the Hemp Pro was a little less than the PlantFusion. I may have gotten it on sale. Thank you for your response.
Day 3 down but boy am I tired. Headache is kicking in and I can tell I'm detoxing. All I can think about right now is chocolate peanut butter ice-cream. Fortunately I am too exhausted to cheat and get any. lol
I would imagine it is not allowed during the 21 day ignite phase but I'll bet it is okay in moderation after that. I think any sugar in addition to what is in fruit and starchy carbs will make it that much more difficult for the taste buds and body to adapt and adjust.
Try going to the NUTRITION Section on Daily Burn then select the RESOURCES button, then FOOD FACTS, click on HOW TO DO DAILY BURN AS A VEGAN OR VEGETARIAN. You may find some good answers to your question there. Good luck
The Daily Burn Life section has good recipes. I have found a traditional veggie and fruit tray to be extremely helpful. I fill it with what I know I can eat, along with homemade dressing. After filling up on vegg and an Ignite approved drink, I love Ice tea, I am less tempted by what is around me. If you like creamy dressing with your vegg, I would recommend looking for a coconut yogurt based dressing recipe or sub coconut yogurt for mayo and add your favorite fresh herbs. They can make all the difference.
Oh! homemade guacamole would also make a great dip, or possibly a homemade bean dip. I make that with olive oil, garlic, cumin, paprika, salt and water to thin it out a little.
I don't know if GF tortilla chips would be okay during the ignite phase considering they are normally filled with other ingredients not on the list. To make something similar to chips, it might be fun to try to make or buy kale chips or make plantain chips in your oven. They are really good and can satisfy the crunchy and salty craving. Hope this helps. Happy 4th!
I was just reading an article a few weeks ago stating the body doesn't absorb protein and other minerals properly if the yolks of the egg are left out. I later spoke with my doctor and sure enough, the latest research is finding the yolk isn't as bad as it was made out to be. We need both the yolk and the white together in order to get the full benefits of the incredible edible egg. Any thoughts?
I have been looking for a good quality protein powder and came across HEMP PRO 70 by Manitoba Harvest. 20gms per serving and no added "evil 6" ingredients.
Does anyone else use this and if so how have your results been long term?
I think you need to listen to your body. I have tried a Vegan diet and then went in the other direction with a Paleo diet. I have found my body responds best somewhere in the middle. If you are feeling great physically and mentally after the initial 7 day detox phase I would guess you have found the right balance for you.
I agree with others that have posted that too much protein without enough carbs can be detrimental to the brain but aside from carbs the brain is made up of fat, so good sources of fat are really important.
I also agree that the right combination on your plate works well. I don't think 50% protein on your plate is necessary. I would focus more on getting your carbohydrate from fruits and vegg. 75% of my food intake is Vegg followed by fruit, then I add in protein and starchy carbs like potatoes. That works for me. I hope you find what works best for you. Good Luck
I am no expert but I would imagine as long as your calories stay higher than what you burn off you would probably be okay. I would consult with your doctor first though to make sure they feel it's sutable for you.
Despite the hot weather and no AC, I have been able to stay well hydrated and didn't wake up with a headache for the first time in a while. Got my workout done and have energy to boot. Day 2 under way.
I am having a very successful Day 1 so far. I love that I was able to complete almost 30 min of light cardio and felt it improved my energy level rather than took it away from me. The recipes are wonderful. Very simple and clean. My body feels better already!
Coconut water hands down!
