Just start with today...today make a choice to have healthy snacks only and take a 10 min walk. When you make it through today there will be a whole new today. On that today you make another choice to have only healthy snacks and be active for 10 min. It will start getting easier once you are used to having control over that one day. Then you can look into an exercise plan that interests you and you want to follow. Good luck!! Posting here is a great start!! It shows you're ready to change!
There could be lots of reasons you're gaining before losing. If you were not very active before you could have a muscle base to build up and muscle is heavier than that fat stuff you're trying to get rid of. From personal experience I can tell you that keeping a food log is very important at the beginning. Because you're using your body more it craves more food and I found that I was snacking more, adding more calories than I needed to compensate. I've since learned to drink a glass of water when I first feel hungry instead of going for a snack. Sometimes I'm not hungry at all, just thirsty.
I've been a DailyBurn user for almost a year and I haven't seen any new videos for months. I do admit that I'm very happy with most workouts so I don't rate them badly at the end, especially since I have been able to "Discover" and get the workouts that fit the time that I have available to workout. I'm looking forward to trying something new!! :)
Sometimes my motivation is simply that I don't want to let my accountability partners down :P So I would suggest getting a partner, someone who you chat with on a daily basis about what you're doing and how the journey is going :)
