It\u2019s time to add in more fresh, alkalizing and cleansing vegetables. This <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyburn.com\/life\/recipes\/healthy-salad-recipes\/\" target=\"_blank\">salad<\/a> combines greens and microgreens with root vegetables to create a more flavorful way to detox.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_27440\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-27440\" style=\"width: 620px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-27440 \" title=\"Spring Cleanse Salad\" alt=\"Spring Cleanse Salad\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-life.dailyburn.com\/life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/10051059\/SpringCleanseSalad_RB_2A.jpg\" width=\"620\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn-life.dailyburn.com\/life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/10051059\/SpringCleanseSalad_RB_2A.jpg 620w, https:\/\/cdn-life.dailyburn.com\/life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/10051059\/SpringCleanseSalad_RB_2A-300x193.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-27440\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo by Renee Blair<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h3>Cleansing Spring Salad Recipe<\/h3>\n<p><em>Serves 5<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Prep time: 10 minutes<br \/>Cook time: 15 minutes\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>[skinnybox]<\/p>\n<h3><b>Ingredients <\/b><\/h3>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>For the salad:<\/em><br \/><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">2 medium golden beets (or 3 small)<br \/><\/span>4 large carrots<br \/>1 cucumber<br \/>3 tablespoons sesame seeds<br \/>1\/4 cup chopped cilantro<br \/>1\/2 cup microgreens or sprouts<br \/>4 cups mixed greens of your choice (baby spinach, arugula, pea shoots, etc.)<br \/>1 avocado<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>For the dressing:<\/em><b><br \/><\/b>3 tablespoons brown rice vinegar<br \/>1 1\/2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup<br \/>2 tablespoons olive oil<br \/>1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil<br \/>1\/4 tsp sea salt<\/p>\n<h3><b>Preparation<\/b><\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Peel and slice the beets and carrots. Put them in a steamer basket over boiling water and steam just until tender (about 7 minutes).<\/li>\n<li>While the beets and carrots steam, quarter and slice the cucumber and place in a large mixing bowl. Toss with the sesame seeds, cilantro, and half of the microgreens or sprouts.\u00a0 Set aside.<\/li>\n<li>Remove the beets and carrots from the heat and rinse them under cold water to cool them quickly. Strain well to remove excess water and toss them with the cucumbers.<\/li>\n<li>Wisk together all of the dressing ingredients in a small bowl and pour half of it over vegetables. Toss well to combine.<\/li>\n<li>Arrange the mixed greens on a platter and drizzle with the remaining dressing. Top the greens with the beets, carrots and cucumbers.
