Sports drinks and <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyburn.com\/life\/health\/maple-water-watermelon-water-hydration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">coconut water<\/a>, which is lower in sugar, can also redeem electrolytes lost while drinking, says White. He suggests downing an additional eight to 16 ounces every hour throughout the day. (So, bank on some bathroom breaks!) Portable snacks are good to have on hand, too, says Jessica Crandall, RDN, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.denverwellnessandnutrition.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Denver Wellness &amp; Nutrition<\/a> Director. You figure that some <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyburn.com\/life\/recipes\/healthy-brunch-cocktails\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mimosas<\/a> or Bloody Marys will help blunt your headache and curb last night\u2019s damage.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hangover Rx:<\/strong> \u201cThe old \u2018hair of the dog\u2019 is pretty much just a myth,\u201d says White. \u201cYou\u2019re drinking and you\u2019re numbing but as soon as that wears off, you\u2019re going to feel worse.\u201d Instead, he recommends ordering a full breakfast. Eggs, he says, are a good source of cysteine, an amino acid that helps the liver break down alcohol faster. Save <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyburn.com\/life\/recipes\/protein-pancake-recipes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pancakes<\/a> for another time and head straight for the menu\u2019s omelet section. On your commute to work, you buy all of the over-the-counter \u201changover pills\u201d in sight at the pharmacy and a large coffee to <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyburn.com\/life\/tech\/train-your-brain-apps\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">jumpstart your brain<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hangover Rx:<\/strong> \u201cI have personally tried [over-the-counter hangover pills] and there\u2019s not a lot of science behind them,\u201d says Crandall. She notes that lots of brands have excessive amounts of vitamins that won\u2019t be helpful. Instead, Crandall advises seeking out protein, complex carbohydrates (a rich source of <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyburn.com\/life\/health\/benefits-vitamin-b-complex\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">B vitamins<\/a>) and potassium-rich foods like banana or melon. Since coffee can irritate the gut, she suggests opting for herbal tea instead. If you can\u2019t function without a jolt of liquid energy, go for black teas over green or fruit teas since the latter\u00a0doesn&#8217;t have any natural caffeine.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>4.\u00a0You\u2019ve committed to fitness (and don\u2019t want to eat a class cancellation fee).<\/strong><\/h3>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cSometimes elevating the heart rate will cause additional pounding in your head.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>There\u2019s no way you\u2019d let a hangover get in the way of <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyburn.com\/life\/fitness\/hangover-cure-exercise-hungover\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">your workout<\/a>. But as soon as you lace up your sneakers, your forehead starts to sweat with fear just thinking about <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyburn.com\/life\/fitness\/beginner-crossfit-workouts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AMRAP burpees<\/a> or the eight-mile run you had planned.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hangover Rx:<\/strong> While exercise sounds like the ultimate hangover cure with the endorphin rush, Crandall and White say it\u2019s smarter to avoid strenuous, high-intensity programs if you\u2019re <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyburn.com\/life\/fitness\/working-out-while-sick\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">feeling out of sorts<\/a> after a night out. \u201cSometimes elevating the heart rate will cause additional pounding in your head,\u201d says Crandall. But she says that getting some fresh air may help you feel better. White and Crandall agree that low-intensity workouts are ideal. \u201cI would go with yoga, light weight training or some elliptical,\u201d he says.
