Remind yourself <em>before<\/em> you take those extra between-meal bites: Like it or not, every calorie counts.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Mistake #2: Going crazy on your cheat day.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Splurging once a week can help <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyburn.com\/life\/health\/tips-stop-unhealthy-food-cravings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">satisfy cravings<\/a> and, when done right, can even <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyburn.com\/life\/health\/pros-and-cons-cheat-day-diet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">spike metabolism<\/a> and help you burn calories more efficiently. &#8220;But the problem is that often, the cheat day becomes a massive food-eating contest,&#8221; says Joey Thurman, celebrity trainer and creator of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thelifestylerenovation.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Lifestyle Renovation<\/a>. But don&#8217;t let a strict diet keep you from exercising, either. &#8220;It&#8217;s still important because it will help with increasing your mood, boosting energy and promoting <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyburn.com\/life\/lifestyle\/how-to-fall-asleep-fast\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">better sleep<\/a>,&#8221; says Hill. &#8220;Focus on these immediate gains of physical activity, and weight loss will follow suit.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Mistake #7: Focusing too much on the scale.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Many of Mosier&#8217;s clients obsessively <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyburn.com\/life\/health\/how-to-calculate-bmi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">check the scale<\/a>, and are then disappointed if the number isn\u2019t moving.
