Ingredients

Quart-sized mason jar
1 2/3 cups gluten-free oats
1/2 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped toasted pecans
1 1/2 cups gluten-free flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
Gift card or label

Preparation

  1. In a clean and dry quart-sized mason jar, carefully layer each of the ingredients in order, starting with the oats. Make sure that each layer is firmly pressed down before topping with the next layer. This will create distinct lines. Once all of the ingredients have been added, seal the jar.
  2. On a gift card or label, print the following:
-Open the jar and spoon out the brown and white sugar into a mixing bowl and cream with ½ cup butter.
-Add in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and 1 egg + 1 egg white, and continue to mix until well combined.
-Stir in the remaining ingredients from the jar and continue to blend until well integrated. Place the bowl in the fridge for at least 2 hours.
-After the dough has chilled in the fridge, preheat the oven to 350°F.
-Spoon tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto a parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Bake for 12 minutes until golden in color. Allow to cool before removing from the baking sheet.
