The Green Protein Smoothie This Trainer Swears By

After a sweaty spin session or smoldering HIIT workout, you either want to sit back and enjoy a refreshing drink or devour everything in sight. But if stomach sensitivity is keeping you from eating a full-on meal post-workout, a green protein smoothie is the perfect fix for replenishing the nutrients lost during exercise and make major gains. Take a cue from Joe Wicks, aka The Body Coach and “Lean in 15” creator, who’s all about quick and dirty meal prep. And that’s exactly what he shared on a recent visit to the set of Daily Burn 365.

His simple smoothie recipe features spinach, which packs bone-building vitamin K so you can protect your joints and deadlift like Popeye. Wicks also recommends popping in a couple scoops of protein powder to help your muscles rebuild post-strength session. (Everyone needs a little protein, bro.) Add a touch of honey for natural sweetness and you’ll also get a hit of carbs your body needs to take on the day.

With just a handful of ingredients and a high-speed blender, you can have post-workout treat ready faster than it takes to finish your four-minute Tabata. Now, go earn that smoothie!
